Many people wonder how to get muscles and decide that the answer must be by heading straight down to the gym and lifting heavy weights. For the majority of people this is starting at the wrong end of the process. Developing muscles efficiently requires that the body is in good shape and for lots of people this means the best starting point is on the diet. Good eating habits, don't just mean not eating too much, it means having a balanced diet and eating regular meals. Regular meals means that the body can develop an efficient metabolism, burning off calories at a regular rate throughout the day and a balanced diet, of course, means that the body is obtaining what it needs to function efficiently. Whilst improving diet, it is important to ensure the body is in a good physical condition to be able to put on muscle mass. For many people this means starting an exercise regime, not strength related, but fitness related, Cardio workouts. It is important that before you start changing your diet and exercise regime, that you consider any underlying health conditions and seek advice from your physician, where appropriate. Cardio-exercise will do a couple of key things: 1. It improves your metabolism as you work the heart and lungs 2. It starts to tone your body, enabling muscle development more efficiently. As your body starts to tone up through diet and cardio workouts, you will already see an improvement in your body shape and start to feel more energetic. Now is the time to start building strength and muscle through weights. As you increase emphasis on weights, you need to drop back a little on your cardio work and ensure your diet remains right for your new active lifestyle. Pulling weights is demanding on your body and you need to ensure you get plenty of rest. This enables your muscles to strengthen and repair. Working out how to get muscles, isn't just about heading off to the gym, it is about ensuring your body is in good shape and able to generate muscle mass efficiently. |
